Dell XPS 15z Laptop Review

Nowadays, there are so many laptop brands in the market that it could be very difficult to decide which one is the best option. One brand and model, however, that is worthy or looking at is the Dell XPS 15z. Most of the Dell XPS 15z laptop review sites mention one thing about this machine: it is a cheaper version of the 15-inch Macbook Pro. It is also one of the attempts that Dell have in releasing a laptop that can perform well but is priced just right. Can this machine be the start of more affordable machines from Dell? What are the features that make it a better choice?

The Dell XPS 15z has the following features:

  • Display: 15.6 inches, resolution: 1920 x 1080, glossy LCD with LED backlight.
  • Processor: Intel Core i7, 2700 MHz.
  • Graphics: switchable between Intel HD Core i7 and NVidia GeForce GT 525M.
  • 8 GB DDR3 RAM (133 MHz).
  • 750 GB Hard dis drive (7200 RPM).
  • Card reader, optical drive.
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
  • Touchpad and backlit keyboard.

At first glance, the Dell XPS 15z looks very similar to the 15-inch Macbook Pro, but a closer examination will reveal the differences that these two models have and may also explain why Dell is able to sell this piece at a price that is almost half of its direct competitor. In terms of the overall look, it is less polished compared to the Macbook Pro. In terms of performance, however, users will definitely be able to get their every cent’s worth with this machine. The processor and RAM combined with the switchable graphics chipset makes it ideal both for simple computing tasks as well as gaming. The resolution and brightness of its display is also very noticeable, as well as its backlit keypad. This is the reason why most Dell XPS 15z laptop review sites give this machine a positive rating.

The optical drive, however, does not present much room for upgrade because of limited space. The battery can last for up to 5 hours. As with other Dell machines, it also has the PowerShare feature and this allows users to charge mobile gadgets, even when the device is shut down. The machine is also a bit bigger and heavier compared to the 15-inch Macbook Pro. It is about an inch thick and weighs 5.6 pounds.

The overall Dell XPS 15z laptop review is that it is an affordable alternative to the overrated 15-inch Macbook Pro. For those who would like to experience what it feels like to own the latter model but is on a limited budget, this is the best alternative to buy. Users won’t even notice the difference. Apart from that, one can definitely be guaranteed of the product’s quality and excellent performance because it comes from Dell. This machine also marks a new era of affordable machines from Dell, which would hopefully allow users to have a reasonable choice when it comes to purchasing high-end laptops but for a more reasonable and affordable price.
